Why Miguel Could Be the Good Guy Here
The lovers of “This Is Us” can tell you that Miguel actually starting to grow up is a statement thy never thought they would use. This is however the case as in (Season 2, Episode 11) where we find an addiction expert guiding Kelvin on how to start a group dialogue with the Pearson’s sited in circle looking all uncomfortable. This is however an unusual meeting for them as they would be normally having this get together at Randal’s or Kate and Toby’s nice places.
This therapy came after a drunk Kelvin, who is addicted to both painkillers and fame, decided to drive full speed with Tess, Beth and Randal’s young daughter, at the back seat. A possible scenario was with Kelvin entering into what seemed as a wreck but the writers knew that our hearts would not handle that. Tess’s parents had just been through a heartbreak of having to re-unite their foster daughter to her biological mom and that meant that Tess is all they had.
Instead, Kevin is pulled up by a cop and when we pick back up with him, he has been in the rehab facility for three months working to reverse the damage he has done to himself and people around him.
This is what leads us to this Pearson’s family thing that Miguel, Beth and Toby are not invited. They therefore spend the afternoon drinking in bar which Toby thinks is ironic considering the circumstances. During the session, the very deeply emotions of Kevin always feeling ousted by the family comes to head. Given the fact that everyone in dealing with one thing or the other, he is left to feel as a third wheel that he says lead s to him seek for the attention and admiration room the media that he never got as a youth.
So really the law of attraction is at play here as Kevin has been looking for what he never got from the family, from the mass but that doesn’t change things. Miguel, the new one to the group is married to his best friend’s wife although he is all sweet to the Pearson’s family. The wife of Jack Pearson who is a “no fly zone” for everyone. Miguel knows his place which he is okay with and knows that to change it, it would require the reversal of the very fabric that weaves together the Pearson just like Kelvin. The only difference is that unless Kevin makes amends and heals , he will keep unraveling it but Miguel on the other hand may be what the family needs to get back together.
